Glenrothes Open Karate Tournament

Sunday 31st May, Cowdenbeath attended an open karate tournament in Glenrothes. Clubs from Methil, Leven , Lundin Links, Glenrothes, Temple Martial Arts, Anstruther , Cupar as well as Cowdenbeath all came together to contest both Kata and fighting events for junior and senior grades.


Cowdenbeath dominated the event and won nearly every section they entered.


Top student was Allan Goodwin who won the senior fighting and black belt Kata events, Scott Evans also did very well earning silver in each of the main sections.


Marie Stein won the women’s black belt fighting section. Nathan Sealey and Steven Smith won the u16 and u18 fighting titles. Ryan Godsell won the boys black belt Kata event and Melissa Maxwell won the junior Kata and fighting events.


The team Kata event was won by Cowdenbeath with the team consisting of Melissa Maxwell, Anais Bassest and Kayliegh Ritchie.


Callum Bauld won the men’s section narrowly outpointing fellow club mate Allan Ritchie with both men giving a good account of themselves in all their fights.


Nathan Howie won the boys fighting event.


There were also medals for Mark Fitzpatrick, Jack Snedon, Ben Smith, Jack Pennie , Robbie Godsell and Richard Cairns.


Club instructors Gordon Maxwell and Chris Whyte would like to thank everyone who fought for their efforts and to all friends and family who came along on the day to lend their support.
